Inaugural year as a real permitted event with full aid stations and course markings!
My family has a lot of history in Butte, Montana. Both my parents were born and grew up there. My dad’s dad worked underground in the mines of Butte, and my mom’s dad was a county commissioner and a well-known insurance agent. My cousins still ranch around Butte, and I have three wonderful and hilarious aunts living in the area. I spent many summer vacations visiting Butte, and it has a very special place in my heart. It is a beautiful place to run too!
This idea of this run started as a way to honor my family’s connection to Butte by making a long run for myself to connect special places from my family’s history.

Small groups ran this as a fat ass in 2023 and 2024, and the inaugural permitted Copper Kings 100 will start on Friday June 27, 2025.

40-hour cutoff
Fully inclusive including a nonbinary division
The 2025 Copper Kings 100 will be a real permitted event with course markings and aid stations with the kinds of things you expect for a 100 miler. In 2023 and 2024 this run was as a fat ass, which gave us a lot of practice and also helped us hone the route.
Finishers receive a hand-made copper belt buckle.
